Welcome to the website for the Experiential Learning Program at Campbell University School of Pharmacy. Whether you are a pharmacy student or preceptor, this site will inform and guide you about our early experiences, Early Practice Experiences, and Advanced Practice Experiences.
Program Description
The experiential component of the curriculum consists of a Clinical Skills Development Course (including a "shadow program" and participation in a community health screening) in the first year, early practice experiences commencing in the summers between the first and second academic years, and advanced practice experiences in the fourth professional year.
In the summer between the first and second years, most students complete:
required, month long early practice experience in a community pharmacy
Then, in the summer between the second and third professional years students complete:
required, month long early practice experience in hospital pharmacy
Fourth year clinical rotations are conducted over the entire final year of the program. These advanced practice experiences include:
two months general inpatient medicine
one month primary care
one month geriatrics
one month drug information
one month advanced community pharmacy
three elective Advanced Practice Experiences
